The Mental Wellbeing Conversation
The mental wellbeing of staff continues to be one of the biggest issues that organisations face. The best workplaces invest in training for managers but, I believe, this training can easily miss the mark. I have worked with thousands of leaders on how they can support their teams and the vast majority are not so worried about whether they have enough knowledge on different mental health conditions, etc.; they are worried about how to have ‘the conversation’ with a colleague, about not ‘saying the wrong thing’, or making matters worse. Unfortunately, it is this fear, rather than knowledge levels, that often results in them avoiding the issue all together.
My face to face and online sessions give leaders the confidence they need to help safeguard their staff with drama-based methods* that enable them to explore and practice how to talk about mental wellbeing. Of course, a grounding in mental health issues is important and I prepare participants with engaging pre-course videos, leaving our time together as a group to focus on the most important issues:
-
How to spot the signs
-
How to open up the conversation
-
How to signpost to professional support
-
How to look after their own wellbeing
* If you’re feeling queasy about the mention of drama, please watch this video on how I use Real Play.
Join me in this free 90 minute webinar session to experience the impact this approach has on the confidence and skill levels you can bring to safeguarding mental wellbeing in your organisation.
